Training seminar on access to essential medicines, Nairobi, October 2008
Health Action International (HAI) Africa and the Southern African Treatment Access Movement (SATAMO)
The main objectives of the seminar are: 1) to identify and build capacity of a cadre of activists in civil society organizations in East and Southern Africa who will analyse the root causes of essential medicine stock outs including low availability and unaffordability. at local levels 2) take action by planning an advocacy campaign. After the training, participants will be invited to submit grant applications to OSI’s Public Health Program to carry out national campaigns on stock outs, poor availability and affordability of essential medicines. Participants We are seeking the following participants: 1. Experienced activists working who are interested in and have some experience with access to medicines issues. Participants may come from the HIV, TB or other essential medicine field. 2.Legal professionals interested in access to medicines issues 3. Media professionals interested in access to medicines issues Dates and Venue The training will be held in Nairobi, Kenya on the 6th to the 8th of October 2008. All interested persons must complete the form attached and submit it to the e-mail address below by close of business on the 25th of August, 2008.
