Job Title: Community Organiser, People’s Health Movement, South Africa Reporting to: PHM Steering Committee Main Job Purpose: To promote and implement the RTHC at community level, working closely with RTH Campaign committees and member CSOs; to represent PHM at local and national level meetings and forums and disseminate information about PHM (Global and in SA) Performance Areas 1. Programme Planning & Evaluation • Assist with development and coordination of work plans in order to achieve effective results • Assist with monitoring progress against funding agreements and budgets relating to the RTHC • Assist with planning and overseeing participatory evaluation initiatives with stakeholders 2. Programme Implementation and Capacity Building • Establish and maintain new contacts and form links with civil society organisations and groups • Build links with community radio/newspapers in consultation with campaign committee • Plan meetings and workshops in consultation with campaign committees • Organise venues, catering, transport for meetings • Submit financial reports for workshops and meetings • Write and submit monthly reports against workplan • Identify community members with leadership potential • Participate in identifying training and development needs, and developing training plan based on needs, in conjunction with campaign committees • Assist with facilitation of RTHC workshops 3. Networking • Participate in network forums • Attend meetings, conferences and workshops relevant to RTHC 4. Admin and Finance • Assist with developing budgets in relation to RTHC; monitor expenditure against budget and workplans • Maintain own filing system • Write and submit monthly reports and assist with other reports as required • Assist with fundraising e.g. through supplying info for proposals, donor liaison and other aspects of the work as required, in close cooperation with the Coordinator • Contribute data to, and maintain the database on community profiles
