The Collaborative Fund for HIV/AIDS Women and Families in Sub-Saharan Africa calls for submissions of proposals from groups of women groups (non governmental and community based organisations seeking funding support for Treatment Literacy & Preparedness. The overall objective of this grant is to support initiatives of women led and/or women PLWHA led organisations especially those that represent specific interests of women living with HIV/AIDS. Specifically the objectives that we intend to achieve through this grant cycle are: To create an enabling environment for the community to understand treatment literacy issues, to ensure access to services e.g. - Knowledge and information on access, availability, use and adherence to treatment - Improving treatment literacy and knowledge on treatment issues by women and families at grass root - Relationship between HIV and other opportunistic infections e.g. HIV & TB etc., HIV and Sexual Reproductive Health (SRHR) - Treatment, care and support - Advocacy for increased access, knowledge, awareness - Linkages with policy and decision makers To advocate for increased access to SRHR services and knowledge for women living with HIV/AIDS - Improving SRHR literacy among women - Rights literacy on SRHR - Advocacy for access to services To empower women on their sexual reproductive health and rights of women specifically related to HIV/AIDS - Sexual reproductive health and rights of women living with HIV/AIDS - Advocacy for improved access, knowledge in sexual reproductive health and rights of women living with HIV/AIDS Grants will be allocated to successful applications for a period of up to one year to a maximum amount of 10,000 US dollars. Eligibility • Women Community Based Organisations that are specifically dealing with HIV/AIDS and/or TB/HIV • Women organisations that are dealing with SRHR: pap smears, treatment and prevention of STIs in women, advocacy for SRHR, HIV treatments and menopause, contraceptives and ARVs, adherence and body image & ARVs etc. • These organisations must be based and conduct their activities in Sub Saharan Africa • Positive women should be leaders/owners of benefiting organisations • Joint projects/proposals between organisations are also accepted for consideration. • Proposals should be very specific to the areas mentioned above Organisations/Groups not eligible - Organisations owned/led by male - Organisation that have no current gender specific programmes - Organisations outside the Sub-Saharan Region - Individuals - Well funded organisations - Organisations that have already received funding from HIV Collaborative Funding from any of the other regions General guidelines - One proposal per organisation - All proposals to be submitted via email should be in WORD - Accountability, transparency, ownership and sustainability of the projects identified by any group are of paramount. - The proposal must prove that there was involvement of beneficiaries in the development of the proposal and how they will continue to participate till the end of the project - Organisations applying should be committed to women's development- or at least willing to implement the project using women's lenses. This form can be downloaded from the following websites: www.patam.org; www.icw.org and www.hivcollaborativefund.org Deadlines Submission of Proposals: Proposals must be received by 6th July 2007 Background The Collaborative Fund is a partnership of Tides Foundation with members of the International Treatment Preparedness Coalition that aims to fund efforts by civil society, especially people living with HIV/AIDS, to advocate for and participate in the development and implementation of HIV treatment access programs. The International Community of women living with HIV/AIDS (ICW) will be coordinating the Collaborative Fund for women, families and children. A Community Review Panel (CRP) has been established and is made up of women representing the regions and these representatives were selected at the Treatment literacy workshop in Kampala in November 2005. The CRP will be managing the grants process in collaboration with Tides Foundation, a U.S.-based public foundation and International Community of Women living with HIV/AIDS. Funds have been received from a number of donors. A total of 200, 000 US dollars is available for this project for 2006.
