CALL FOR STUDENT POSTERS ON “PUBLIC HEALTH AND HUMAN RIGHTS”
Submission Deadline: October 10, 2006
The mission of the APHA International Human Rights Committee is to develop research, education, and policy toward eliminating international human rights violations which relate to public health, by strengthening the leadership role of public health professionals and their professional associations around the world.
IHRC seeks abstracts from students in public health or related fields on topics addressing the intersection between health and human rights. Abstracts related to the 2006 Annual Meeting theme "Public Health and Human Rights" are encouraged. Student papers must reflect work, issues, or activities undertaken while in school, either undergraduate or graduate programs. Poster sessions allow participants to view presentations at will and interact with poster session authors.
SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS
Complete and submit attached form by Email (in Word format) or mail no later than October 10, 2006, 5:00 PM (ET) to:

CRITERIA FOR JUDGING ABSTRACT SUBMISSIONS
Abstracts will be blind reviewed and ranked by the following:
1. Relationship to theme: Does the abstract relate to the theme?
2. Innovation: Does the abstract represent research, a program or a project that is unique, new, different, creative?
3. Clarity of content: Clearly outlines what the poster is about, such as project type, target audience, setting.
4. Format: Does abstract reference objectives, methods or interventions, results or major findings, implications? Does abstract meet typing and space criteria?
5. Overall reaction: Considering the above criteria, what is your overall reaction?
NOTIFICATION AND COMMUNICATION
 Applicants will be notified by e-mail when submission has been received.
 Applicants will be notified by e-mail of proposal decision by October 20, 2006.
 Accepted poster presenters will receive additional information about conference registration and poster presentation instructions.
 All presenters must pay own travel, lodging, APHA membership fee, and meeting registration fee.
