CIVICUS is a global alliance of civil society organisations with members in over one hundred countries all over the world. CIVICUS works with its members and a rapidly growing network of partners at both national and global levels to promote and strengthen civil society globally. One of CIVICUS’ key roles within global civil society is to build networks and linkages among various organizations around the world. To this effect, CIVICUS is playing a coordinating role with regard to a range of international initiatives. CIVICUS is recruiting a Project Coordinator to initiate and coordinate CIVICUS’ involvement in various international networks. Besides managing the key activities of those networks, which are led by CIVICUS, the incumbent would also research potential further networking opportunities, monitor the development of civil society networks globally as well as design appropriate initiatives. The tasks involved under this job are managerial, conceptual as well as administrative. Specific Responsibilities · Coordinate the main activities of CIVICUS-driven networks; · Ensure that CIVICUS provides appropriate input into network activities as well as that the organisation makes full use of its existing networks; · Monitor and research emerging global civil society networks and suggest a relevant level of involvement for CIVICUS, where appropriate; · Perform administrative functions for those networks, which are coordinated by CIVICUS. Requirements: · Proven track record of at least three years in working on civil society issues or a related field; · Thorough understanding of civil society/the nonprofit sector and its environment at the global and national levels; · Experience in coordinating international initiatives, networks or projects; · Extensive experience in project management, preferably to include events management; · Experience in grant proposal writing, reporting and donor liaison; · Excellent written and oral communication skills in English; advanced skills in at least one other UN language preferred; · Strong ability to develop plans and strategies and to work toward their realization and improvement under demanding performance schedules; and · A university degree in an appropriate discipline of the social sciences; advanced degree preferred.
