Malaria Prevention, Control and Management Course

The AMREF Directorate of Learning Systems is pleased to announce
the above Malaria Prevention, Control and Management Course. The
main objective of this course is to provide an up-date in clini-
cal management, prevention and control of Malaria through the
acquisition of knowledge and practical skills.
The course is sub-divided into three main units:
Unit 1 provides an overview on the challenges of malaria and its
impact on socio-economic development.
Unit 2 covers clinical aspects of malaria including diagnosis
and patient management of Malaria.
Unit 3 covers control and prevention measures of Malaria.
The course is designed for Clinical Officers, Nurses, Environ-
mental Officers, Laboratory Technologists and Public Health Of-
ficers. A certificate of attendance stipulating the units cov-
ered is awarded at the end of the course.
The tuition cost is US$ 240 per person. AMREF will also provide
all participants with lunch, morning and afternoon tea with
snacks, stationery and course handouts. A field visit to a ma-
laria control and prevention project is organised within Kenya.
2 competitive scholarships are available to cover tuition ex-
penses only and you are invited to apply for this too. Please
note that this being a non-residential course all participants
are expected to cater for their accommodation expenses and we
estimate this to cost between US$ 13 and US$ 35 at nearby hotels
and hostels. Please let us know if you require our assistance to
make reservations at any of these facilities.
