Senior Position in Health Measurement - University of Pretoria -------------------------------------------------------------- ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR/PROFESSOR/SENIOR LECTURER IN HEALTH MEASUREMENT (Epidemiology or Biometrics applied to human populations, or So- ciology/Demography with emphasis on Quantitative Research Meth- odology or Operational Research applied to the health field) Faculty of Health Sciences, School of Health Systems and Public Health, University of Pretoria, South Africa Minimum requirements: * At least a Master's degree in Epidemiology or another relevant health research degree in which Research Methodology is a ma- jor topic * Postgraduate training and experience in public health is es- sential * Must demonstrate evidence of success in scholarship in Health Measurement and Epidemiology in the form of international pub- lications * Must have a proven track record in: - teaching health measurement at post-graduate level - graduating students at master's and preferably at doctoral levels - obtaining research grants * A Doctorate in Epidemiology, Biostatistics or Biometrics ap- plied to human populations, or Sociology/Demography with em- phasis on Quantitative Research Methodology, or Operational Research applied to the health field, will be preferred. Duties: * Head the Health Measurement track for the School and accept responsibility for the strategy, implementation and quality control of all teaching in health measurement and research methods * Oversee all health measurement teaching and advise graduates and colleagues on research methods * Solicit external funding such as research grants locally and internationally, and grow the health measurement team * Engage in community and professional services in line with the School's objective of African relevance and excellence * Support the mission, philosophy and objectives of the Faculty and University * Facilitate the professional role development of staff and graduate students serving as a mentor in scholarly pursuits.
